Orange Crush

An amazing piece of fractal art I found on Flickr. Mathematics can show us the beauty of the universe, as revealled in many lifeforms. It seems to always be there, as a potential- as images such as this show us, which bridge the divide between art and science..

The Sunset at Yellowstone

One of the amazing examples of HDR photography on Flickr, this one by Stuck in Customs. I only like them when the colours are believable and attractive, like these.

The presence of a lot of over-saturated mush out there gives the tonemapping technique a bad name, but things like this show just how deliciously subtle it can be in the right hands. As for HDR photos- we have yet to see one, though tommorows monitors may well have the required colour depth (16-48bit colour, whereas today the maximum is 6-10 bit).

Raindrops in spiderweb #1

Yet another by 'Lord V', this time of a spiders-web, yet made so abstract by the composition. The gorgeous colours help no end to making this a masterpiece.

Blue and yellow dewdrop refraction

Another beautiful piece by 'Lord V', with great harmonies and symmetries. That soft, endless background goes so well with the amazing detail in the waterdrops.

Dewdrop Refraction #4

An incredible dewdrop photo I saw surfing Flickr. Worlds within worlds appear here.

relic

Futureancient's shot with a Leica camera has an incredibly surreal bokeh. I think with all this emphasis on new technologies, autofocus and the like, we are in danger of forgetting such artistic qualities.

Emerald

A photo by Dat the Man, on Flickr. The sheer shininess this conveys is what amazes me, like a small, pure world sitting there in the sun.

A Textured Marsh At Daybreak

Another dawn photo by the same author, I love the soft morning feel here. We think of light as bright or dim, but there are so many other qualities, which create the atmosphere, such as this soft warmth, easing multitudes of life into a new day.

The Dimensions Of Purity

A beautiful panorama from thepres6- something that gives you pause to appreciate the creation all around us.

Beautiful Drops

An amazing photo of water drops. Worlds within worlds, this one by Macorlin is pure inspiration.

Green Mantis

Hello there, Mr. Mantis, looking straight at me. Somehow, Jacalynsnana managed to make this little critter look extremely cute!

The Beauty of the Swan

A gorgeously warm, dream photo of a swan by Carmeena. I love the colours.

Beautiful Girl

This is one of the most attractive, natural portraits I've ever seen on Flickr. Warm and cute, so full of life yet so enigmatic.

Supermellie

Mellie, the flying dog, which seems to be a very popular photo here on Flickr. Mr. NZ seems to have got this at just the right moment and it certainly makes me chuckle!

Fuji Sunrise

An amazing picture of Mt Fuji by my friend Peter. The framing and colours here are just magical!

Costa Rica Canopy

A very interesting leaf, taken by Bryan199 in Costa Rica. I can't help admiring the natural artistry of those veins and the perfect colours. A great capture.

Antelope Canyon

Another favourite photo from flickr, this time from a spot in the Grand Canyon that attracts many photographers. I always love Anna Munandar's views of things and this is no exception- it just has that special touch! What is it that makes her photos stand out? I think it's her curiosity to see the world anew, but also her warmth, which somehow colours each image. It's a strange thing, but the person taking a photo is always somehow in it too.

Last rays for Rock

Here's an amazing photo I just saw on Flickr. I've seen a fair few good ones of this scene, but this one by 'Shacky' takes the biscuit for drama and beauty.

Flickr Surfin'- Mercury Melting

I came upon this amazing HDR cityscape when looking through Flick's Explore. I love the bronze hues and the incredible composition, like a world within a world. Photos like this really make you see things afresh.

Thanks to Stuck in Customs for the sharing.
